Hister is a self-hosted, AGPLv3-licensed search engine that indexes the full text content of pages and files you choose to collect.

Content is added via browser extensions, file watchers, history imports, or crawlers, and queried through a web interface, terminal, CLI, HTTP API, or MCP. The server runs as a single binary with no telemetry or mandatory cloud dependency, using SQLite or PostgreSQL for user-scoped access.
