Summary
OpenSnitch is an open-source interactive application firewall for GNU/Linux that monitors and controls outbound network connections on a per-application basis.
It features a graphical user interface, configurable filtering rules, centralized management for multiple nodes, and system-wide blocking of ads, trackers, or malware domains. The firewall integrates with SIEM systems and enables users to approve or block connection attempts as they occur.
Personal Notes
I use this on top of Firewalls (typically prefer OPNsense, pfSense, or Firewalla for simpler use cases), as I prefer a belt-and-suspenders approach to security. This tool attempts to replicate, albeit poorly visually, Little Snitch functionality (the leading app for this functionality in macOS).
